18 tunnels. Tunnel 1 easily seen from to north of State Route 72 at the mouth of Coal Creek Canyon. Tunnels 1-4 are in Jefferson County, Tunnel 5 is on Jefferson-Boulder County line, Tunnels 6-13 are in Boulder County. Tunnel 9 collapsed during construction. Tunnel 14 is on the Boulder-Jefferson County. line as the railroad re-enters Jefferson County. Tunnels 15 and 16 are in Jefferson County. Tunnel 17 caved in during construction, thus Tunnel 18 became current Tunnel 17 |
